TLDR Current treatments for alopecia areata can help hair grow but don't cure the disease.
Alopecia areata (AA) is an autoimmune disorder causing non-scarring hair loss, with treatments considered off-label and not curative. The effectiveness of therapies such as topical and systemic corticosteroids, minoxidil, phototherapy, anthralin, and topical immunotherapy varies based on age, health, and hair loss extent. These treatments may promote hair growth but do not alter the disease's natural course.
