    Nitric oxide (NO) has shown potential in treating COVID-19 pneumonia due to its antiviral properties, which have been recognized since the 1990s. Recent studies and clinical trials have highlighted the effectiveness of inhaled NO and NO nasal sprays, which have received emergency approval in several countries. NO therapy works through direct viral inhibition, immune regulation, and protection against pulmonary and cardiovascular symptoms. As global vaccination efforts continue, NO therapies are anticipated to provide significant advancements as both symptomatic and adjuvant treatments for COVID-19.
