TLDR Nutritional changes, like fixing nutrient deficiencies and following anti-inflammatory diets, can improve life quality for people with Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
This systematic review analyzed nutritional interventions for treating Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT), focusing on dietary strategies to alleviate symptoms such as hair loss and fatigue. The review included 9 eligible studies from a total of 70 articles. The interventions examined included supplementation of deficient micronutrients, anti-inflammatory diets, gluten-free diets, exclusion of foods causing sensitivities, lactose-free diets, paleo diets, and calorie restriction. While some results were controversial, the general conclusion was that nutritional interventions should focus on correcting micronutrient deficiencies, improving intestinal microbiota, and promoting anti-inflammatory diets and healthy lifestyle changes to enhance the quality of life for individuals with HT.
