TLDR Ivermectin, antibacterial drugs, and beta-glucan successfully treated a police dog's demodicosis.
The document described a case of canine demodicosis in an 8-year-old police dog, characterized by alopecia and inflammation due to the proliferation of Demodex canis mites. Initial treatments with antibacterial and antimicotic agents were ineffective, as the lesions relapsed and worsened over time. The dog was eventually treated at the Izmir Bornova Veterinary Research Institution with ivermectin, antibacterial drugs, and beta-glucan. This treatment reduced the mite density and led to clinical and microscopic improvement, with the lesions disappearing completely six months after therapy completion.
