TLDR Minoxidil's hair growth benefits may decrease over time.
The study observed the effects of long-term minoxidil use on hair growth, noting a decrease in total hair counts between the 12th and 30th month, even among those with average and above-average responses. Initially, 149 subjects participated, but only 102 completed 12 months, and 89 completed 24 months. By the third year, only 54 subjects (50 men and 4 women) continued. The findings suggested that while minoxidil was effective in promoting hair growth initially, its benefits might diminish over time, highlighting the need for further research on the optimal duration of therapy for maximum benefit.
