Black women are disproportionately affected by triple-negative breast cancer and chemotherapy-induced alopecia, with existing hair preservation techniques like scalp cooling proving less effective due to structural differences in Black hair. Recommendations for improving cap-to-scalp contact include thermally straightening hair, applying oil, and dampening it before treatment. While pharmacologic options like minoxidil and spironolactone show potential, there is limited safety data for Black patients. The review emphasizes the necessity for personalized, evidence-based strategies to prevent chemotherapy-induced alopecia in Black cancer patients.
