Optimization of Traditional Herbal Hair Growth Formulation from East Nusa Tenggara Using Orthogonal Stimulus Response Method on Mouse Hair Weight (Mus musculus)
TLDR A traditional herbal mix from East Nusa Tenggara may help hair regrowth after chemotherapy.
The study investigates the effectiveness of a traditional herbal formulation from East Nusa Tenggara (RENTT) for treating Chemotherapy-Induced Alopecia (CIA). Using 35 male mice, the research optimized RENTT using Taguchi’s Orthogonal Stimulus Response Method and evaluated its antioxidant activity through the DPPH assay. The RENTT Combination 3, which showed the highest antioxidant activity with an IC₅₀ value of 27.468 ppm, resulted in the most significant hair growth, with an increase in hair weight of 0.003 g after 28 days. This suggests that RENTT could be a promising natural alternative therapy for CIA.
