Efficacy of Oral Isotretinoin in the Treatment of Acne Vulgaris

    The study conducted a retrospective chart review of 86 patients treated with oral isotretinoin for acne vulgaris at a dermatology clinic in Almansoora, Aden. The results indicated that isotretinoin was an effective treatment, achieving complete clearance in 80.2% of patients and partial clearance in 16.3%. The most common side effects were cheilitis (54.7%) and dry skin (12.8%), with hair loss occurring in 7% of patients. The study concluded that isotretinoin was a safe and effective therapy for acne vulgaris, with a statistically significant response related to therapy duration.
