TLDR Low-dose oral minoxidil is safe and effective for treating hair loss, with most side effects being mild and reversible.
The retrospective study assessed the safety of low-dose oral minoxidil (MODB) in 641 patients with androgenetic alopecia (AGA). It found that MODB had a favorable safety profile, with 84.4% of patients experiencing no adverse effects. Hypertrichosis was the most common side effect, affecting 11.7% of participants, but it was mild and reversible with dose adjustments. Other side effects, such as tachycardia and dizziness, were less common and also reversible. Only 1.4% of patients discontinued treatment due to adverse effects. The study concluded that MODB is a safe and effective treatment for AGA, with most patients tolerating the treatment well after dose adjustments.
