TLDR Spermidine supplements can help extend the hair growth phase and may be useful for treating hair loss.
This study found that oral spermidine supplementation significantly prolongs the anagen phase of hair follicles in healthy individuals. In a trial with 100 participants, those receiving spermidine showed a 52% increase in anagen V-VI follicles after 90 days, while the placebo group experienced a 21% decrease. Spermidine also increased cellular proliferation and reduced apoptotic signaling, with effects persisting three months post-treatment, as 100% of the spermidine group maintained negative pull tests. These results suggest spermidine's potential as a therapeutic option for hair loss disorders, though further research is needed.
