TLDR Early recognition and multidisciplinary management are crucial for improving outcomes in Parry-Romberg syndrome.
Parry-Romberg syndrome (PRS) is a rare disorder characterized by progressive hemifacial atrophy, with uncertain etiology involving possible immunological, genetic, and neurovascular factors. This case study discusses a 24-year-old female with PRS, presenting with intraoral and extraoral soft tissue atrophy, localized alopecia, ocular changes, and otologic involvement. Despite significant craniofacial asymmetry, no neurological deficits were observed. The patient is undergoing orthodontic treatment to improve occlusion and facial balance, emphasizing the importance of early recognition and multidisciplinary management. The study calls for further research to understand the long-term effects of orthodontic and surgical interventions in PRS.
