TLDR Patients with alopecia areata using Janus kinase inhibitors are not following lab monitoring guidelines.
A study conducted at a specialty hair clinic reviewed the charts of 57 patients with alopecia areata (AA) using Janus kinase inhibitors (JAKi) to assess adherence to lab monitoring guidelines. The recommended frequency for lab monitoring is every three months due to potential side effects of JAKi. The study found that patients are not adhering to this recommended frequency. The authors conclude that new strategies are needed to improve adherence to lab monitoring protocols for patients undergoing JAKi treatment.
