TLDR Women with acne often have PCOS.
This study explored the association between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and acne vulgaris in 60 female patients aged 14-36 years. Conducted at the Dermatology OPD of Dr. PSIMS & RF, the research adhered to the Rotterdam criteria for diagnosing PCOS, which includes ovulatory dysfunction, hyperandrogenism, and polycystic ovarian morphology. Acne severity was assessed using the Global Acne Grading System (GAGS). The findings suggest a significant prevalence of PCOS among women with acne vulgaris, highlighting the importance of considering endocrine evaluations in patients presenting with acne. Data analysis was performed using SPSS v22.
