    TLDR Alpha-blocker therapy may not be needed long-term when combined with finasteride for BPH.
    The study investigated the necessity of continuing alpha-blocker therapy indefinitely when combined with finasteride for treating moderate benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Conducted in a Canadian multicenter setting, the research evaluated the effectiveness of initially using a combination of finasteride and an alpha-blocker, followed by finasteride monotherapy, in improving symptoms of BPH. The findings suggested that it might not be necessary to maintain alpha-blockade treatment indefinitely once combination therapy has been initiated.
