TLDR Siddha therapeutics successfully treated a 14-year-old's alopecia areata, leading to full hair regrowth without side effects.
A case report in the Indian Journal of Pediatrics details the successful treatment of a 14-year-old boy with pediatric alopecia areata using Siddha therapeutics. The patient, who had experienced patchy hair loss for 8 years and had not responded to allopathic treatments, was treated with a combination of Siddha proprietary medicines and external applications. Within 21 days, hair regrowth began, and after 3 months, full regrowth was observed with no recurrence during a 6-month follow-up. The treatment improved the patient's quality of life significantly, as measured by the Alopecia Areata Quality of Life Index, and no adverse reactions were reported. This case suggests that Siddha therapeutics could be a promising and cost-effective treatment for alopecia areata, warranting further clinical trials with larger sample sizes.
