TLDR Phototherapy is often used for psoriasis in children, but it has low success rates.
This study reviewed the use of phototherapy in 33 pediatric patients over 5 years, with a median age of 15, at a single center. Psoriasis was the most common condition treated (54.5%), followed by vitiligo and atopic dermatitis. Most patients (81.8%) received cabin nbUVB treatment. Side effects were relatively low, occurring in 12.1% of patients, with erythema being the most common. However, the response to treatment was less favorable, with only 12.9% achieving complete or almost complete recovery, and 51.6% not benefiting from the treatment. The study concludes that while phototherapy is commonly used for psoriasis in children, the response rates are lower compared to existing literature.
