TLDR Rosehip seeds have high nutritional value and antioxidant properties, making them useful for health products.
The study on Rosa canina L. seeds reveals their rich nutritional and physico-chemical properties, suggesting potential uses in various industries. The seeds are high in carbohydrates, particularly soluble dietary fiber (71.6%), protein (7.67 g/100 g), and essential fatty acids like linoleic (53.19%) and linolenic acids (20.24%). They are also rich in minerals such as calcium (3851 mg/kg) and potassium (2732 mg/kg), and contain significant levels of vitamin C (1783 μg/g) and antioxidants like phenolic compounds (2633 μg/g). These properties make the seeds suitable for use in nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, cosmeceuticals, and as functional ingredients in food products and dietary supplements. The study emphasizes the need for further research to optimize their use.
