TLDR Natural extracts may promote hair growth with fewer side effects than conventional treatments.
The review explores the potential of phytochemicals from natural sources as safer alternatives to conventional hair loss treatments, which often have adverse effects. It highlights key signaling pathways, such as Wnt/β-catenin, Sonic hedgehog (Shh), and JAK-STAT, crucial for hair growth and regeneration. Various natural extracts, including those from propolis, Gardenia florida, and Mangifera indica, have shown significant hair growth effects by activating these pathways. Despite promising preclinical results, further research is needed to verify the clinical relevance and safety of these phytochemicals, aiming to develop effective hair growth therapies with minimal side effects.
