TLDR Pilomatrixoma should be considered for nodular lesions in adults.
This document discusses a case of pilomatrixoma, a benign tumor originating from the hair matrix, in an elderly male with a nodular lesion on his forearm. Although rare in adults, pilomatrixoma should be considered in differential diagnoses of nodular lesions. The study highlights the importance of diagnostic tools like dermoscopy and high-frequency ultrasonography, which suggested a cystic neoplasm with calcification. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis. The document also reviews rarer variants of pilomatrixoma and aims to raise awareness among clinicians to include pilomatrixoma in their differential diagnoses, regardless of the lesion's location or the patient's age.
