TLDR Cold atmospheric plasma is a promising and safe treatment for various skin conditions.
The document reviewed the use of Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP) in dermatology, highlighting its potential in treating a variety of skin conditions, including chronic wounds, inflammatory disorders, infectious diseases, and hair loss. CAP demonstrated antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and wound-healing properties, showing promise in conditions like diabetic ulcers, dermatitis, psoriasis, and alopecia. In a small trial with 14 patients, CAP influenced hair follicle cells, suggesting potential in treating androgenic alopecia. CAP also showed potential in targeting cancer cells and enhancing transdermal drug delivery. While generally safe, the document emphasized the need for further research, including randomized controlled trials, to optimize CAP's use and ensure safety in clinical practice.
