TLDR Polyherbal shampoos with medicinal plants are safer and more effective for dandruff than traditional shampoos.
Dandruff is a widespread scalp disorder caused by the overgrowth of Malassezia species, increased sebum production, and inflammation. Traditional anti-dandruff shampoos often lead to side effects like scalp dryness and hair damage. Polyherbal anti-dandruff shampoos, which combine medicinal plants with antifungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and keratolytic properties, offer a safer and more effective alternative. Common herbs used include neem, reetha, fenugreek, Aloe vera, and tulsi. These formulations provide a holistic and eco-friendly approach to dandruff management, with current evidence supporting their efficacy and safety.
