Test of Pomegranate Peel Water Extract (Punica granatum L.) on Male Rabbit Hair Growth

This study investigated the effect of pomegranate peel water extract on hair growth in male local rabbits. The experiment involved 6 groups of rabbits, each with 4 rabbits, treated with different concentrations of the extract (3%, 5%, and 10%), a positive control (Minoxidil 2%), a negative control (aquadest), and a normal control (no treatment). Hair growth was measured on days 9, 12, 15, 18, and 21. The 5% concentration of pomegranate peel extract showed the most optimal hair growth, with results not significantly different from the positive control (p=0.068). The positive control showed significant differences (p < 0.05) compared to the 3% and 10% extract concentrations, negative control, and normal control. The study concludes that a 5% concentration of pomegranate peel water extract can optimally enhance hair growth.
