    TLDR Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a major health issue for women in Egypt, affecting 14% of fertile women and 37.5% of infertile women.
    In 2013, a study involving 1450 women in El-Minia, Egypt, was conducted to estimate the prevalence of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in fertile and infertile women. The women were divided into two groups: 620 fertile women who had given birth more than 2 years prior, and 830 women with primary or secondary infertility. The study found that the prevalence of PCOS was 14% (87 out of 620) in the fertile group and 37.5% (311 out of 830) in the infertile group. The study concluded that PCOS was a significant health and reproductive issue for women of reproductive age in Egypt.
