TLDR No significant link was found between the rs1998076 gene variant and hair loss in Indonesians.
This pilot study investigated the association between the genetic variant rs1998076 and androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 100 Indonesian participants (50 with AGA and 50 controls). The study found no significant correlation between the rs1998076 genotype and AGA, although there was a non-significant trend suggesting that the GG genotype might be associated with a higher risk of AGA. Clinical factors such as age, male sex, higher BMI, and hypertension were correlated with AGA. The study concludes that larger studies are necessary to better understand the role of rs1998076 in the Indonesian population.
