    This review discussed the importance of chromatin accessibility in regulating transcriptional programs that contribute to cellular heterogeneity and plasticity. It highlighted the use of single-cell assay for transposase-accessible chromatin using sequencing (scATAC-seq) to measure chromatin accessibility at a single-cell resolution. The review also covered methods for joint profiling of chromatin with transcriptome/proteome measurements, computational strategies for integrating multi-omic data, and predictive tools for inferring chromatin accessibility from transcriptomic datasets. Methodological advancements aimed at improving chromatin coverage and integrating multi-modal measurements were expected to enhance the understanding of gene regulation in both normal and disease states.
