TLDR Stopping finasteride improved sperm counts in two men, reducing the need for fertility treatments.
This report described two cases where men experienced significant improvements in sperm concentrations after discontinuing finasteride 1 mg, used for hair loss. Patient A avoided surgery for azoospermia as his sperm concentration increased from 0.3 to 5.5 million/mL, while Patient B's concentration rose from 4 to 24 million/mL. The findings suggested that stopping finasteride might enhance semen parameters in infertile men and reduce the need for invasive fertility treatments, although semen parameters did not return to normal, indicating finasteride was not the sole cause of subfertility.
