TLDR Ark-e-Kasni improves PCOS symptoms and may be a potential treatment.
The study investigated the effects of the Unani formulation Ark-e-Kasni on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) induced in rats using letrozole and a high-fat diet. Ark-e-Kasni treatment at doses of 5, 10, and 20 mL/kg showed significant improvements in PCOS symptoms, including normalization of hormone levels (LH, testosterone, FSH, insulin) and inflammatory markers (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6). Histological analysis revealed reduced cystic follicles and improved ovarian morphology. The study concludes that Ark-e-Kasni ameliorates PCOS by modulating steroidogenic enzyme activity, enhancing insulin sensitivity, and inhibiting inflammatory pathways, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic agent for PCOS.
