Plasma-Rich Protein and ACell

TLDR PRP is a promising, cost-effective treatment for hair loss by stimulating hair growth.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) was identified as a promising treatment for various medical and dermatological conditions, including hair loss. It was considered a simple, cost-effective, and feasible option for conditions like androgenetic alopecia, female pattern hair loss, alopecia areata, and post-hair transplant surgery. PRP worked by stimulating new follicle development and promoting neovascularization through growth factors and cytokines acting on stem cells. It increased the proliferation of dermal papilla (DP) cells and activated signaling pathways, with fibroblast growth factor 7 and beta-catenin upregulated in DP cells. In mice, PRP injections accelerated the transition from telogen to anagen phases compared to controls, suggesting its potential role in hair restoration.
