Clinical Efficacy of Platelet-Rich Plasma in the Management of Androgenetic Alopecia: A Prospective Comparative Study

This study evaluated the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) combined with 5% topical minoxidil in treating androgenetic alopecia in 80 adults. Participants were divided into two groups: Group A received PRP and minoxidil, while Group B received only minoxidil. After 6 months, Group A showed significantly greater improvements in hair density, hair shaft diameter, and photographic scores compared to Group B. The hair-pull test was negative in 82.5% of PRP-treated patients versus 62.5% in the control group. No serious adverse events were reported, with transient pain and erythema being the most common complaints. Overall, PRP with minoxidil was more effective and well-tolerated than minoxidil alone.
