TLDR PRP may improve hair transplant results, but more research is needed.
This systematic review of three clinical studies with 217 participants indicates that platelet-rich plasma (PRP) enhances hair transplantation outcomes in androgenetic alopecia (AGA) patients by increasing hair density, improving follicle survival, and accelerating hair growth. Despite these positive findings, the studies' small sample sizes, varied PRP preparation methods, and short follow-up periods limit the generalizability of the results. Future research should aim for standardized PRP protocols and longer follow-up to confirm PRP's long-term efficacy and safety in hair transplantation.
