TLDR Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) effectively improves acne scars.
This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the efficacy and safety of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as an adjunctive treatment for atrophic acne scars. The study included 14 controlled clinical trials with a total of 429 participants. The results demonstrated that PRP was superior as an adjuvant therapy, showing significant clinical improvement in studies using quartile scales (RR=1.79; 95% CI 1.39–2.31) and the qualitative Goodman and Barón scale (RR=4.34; 95% CI 1.60–11.76). These findings suggested that PRP could be an effective treatment option for improving acne scars.
