TLDR Platelet-rich plasma speeds up wound healing after hair transplant surgery.
This study investigated the effect of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on donor-area wound healing after follicular unit excision (FUE) in 19 healthy male patients. Two 1 cm² areas in the occipital donor region were treated, with one receiving PRP and the other serving as a control. After 24 hours, the PRP-treated wounds showed a 49.95% reduction in wound surface area compared to a 21.3% reduction in the control group, demonstrating that PRP significantly accelerates wound healing post-FUE harvesting.
