TLDR The treatment cleared psoriasis in some patients but caused side effects in most.
The study investigated the effects of the retinoic acid derivative Ro 10-9359 on 15 patients with psoriasis vulgaris, administering up to 100 mg daily. After an average treatment period of 9 weeks, 8 patients experienced clearing of lesions. However, 14 patients reported side effects, including palmo-plantar desquamation, shivering, thirst, and diffuse hair loss. Two patients discontinued due to scaling, and 6 patients showed abnormal liver enzyme values, with some being transient.
