TLDR Excessive body hair in women with PCOS can lower self-esteem and cause depression and anxiety.
This review article examines the psychological impact of hirsutism and hypertrichosis on women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and hyperandrogenism, highlighting that excessive body hair can significantly lower self-esteem and contribute to depression, anxiety, and body dysmorphophobia.
