Psychosis as a Late Manifestation of Sheehan’s Syndrome

Sheehan’s syndrome, resulting from ischemic pituitary necrosis due to severe postpartum hemorrhage, could rarely present with psychosis. This case report highlighted a 42-year-old woman who developed psychotic symptoms years after childbirth. The diagnosis was confirmed through her history, low pituitary hormone levels, and MRI findings. The study emphasized that correcting endocrine imbalances along with appropriate psychotropic medications could lead to remission of psychotic symptoms. The average delay in diagnosis from the obstetric event was noted to be 13 years in a related study.
