TLDR Iranian girls in Isfahan typically start puberty around age 10, with menarche at 12.
This study investigated the age of onset of puberty in 13,886 healthy Iranian girls from Isfahan province, revealing that the median age for menarche was 12.05 years, breast development began at 9.89 years, and pubic hair development started at 10.14 years. The study identified that puberty onset before 6.85 years should be considered precocious. The findings suggest a trend towards earlier menarche, highlighting the need for further national and longitudinal studies to accurately determine puberty onset for international comparisons.
