TLDR Hair disorders significantly reduce quality of life.
This study assessed the quality of life (QoL) impairment among 96 patients with hair disorders at a tertiary care center in Goa, using the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI). It found that 79.2% of patients experienced some degree of QoL impairment, with non-scarring hair disorders being more common. However, scarring alopecia showed a greater impact on QoL, though this finding should be cautiously interpreted due to the small sample size. No significant association was found between DLQI severity and age or gender. The study concludes that hair disorders significantly impair QoL, and routine DLQI assessment may aid in holistic dermatology management.
