TLDR Slovak breast cancer survivors have moderate quality of life, with emotional and cognitive strengths but social and physical challenges, needing targeted support.
This study evaluated the quality of life (QoL) in 244 Slovak breast cancer survivors using the EORTC QLQ-C30 and BR23 questionnaires. It found moderate overall QoL with preserved emotional and cognitive functioning but impaired social, role, and sexual domains. Key symptoms included insomnia, fatigue, dyspnoea, pain, and hair loss. Chemotherapy was linked to better role functioning but increased hair loss, while radiotherapy improved social functioning and body image but worsened breast symptoms. Sociodemographic factors like residence and education significantly influenced QoL. The study emphasizes the need for targeted supportive care, particularly in physical, social, and sexual domains, and highlights the role of oncology nursing in improving survivorship care.
