TLDR Slovak breast cancer survivors have moderate quality of life, with emotional and cognitive strengths but social and physical challenges, needing targeted support.
This study assessed the quality of life (QoL) in 244 Slovak breast cancer survivors, revealing a moderate overall QoL with preserved emotional and cognitive functioning but impaired social, role, and sexual domains. Chemotherapy was linked to better role functioning but increased hair loss, while radiotherapy improved social functioning and body image but worsened breast symptoms. Sociodemographic factors like residence and education significantly influenced QoL. The study emphasizes the need for targeted supportive care, particularly in addressing physical, social, and sexual domains, and suggests that psychosocial and educational support could enhance patient-centered outcomes for breast cancer survivors in Central and Eastern Europe.
