TLDR Antera 3D® offers more precise and detailed scar assessment than traditional methods.
This study compared traditional Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS) evaluation with 3D cameras and dermoscopy for assessing pediatric pathological scars (PPS) in 35 patients. The Antera 3D® system showed significant reductions in pigmentation, vascularity, and volume, indicating its sensitivity and precision in detecting changes. Dermoscopy also showed improvements in vascularity and pigmentation, while VSS highlighted gains in pliability and height but minimal changes in pigmentation or vascularity. Antera 3D® demonstrated the greatest variability in pigmentation and volume, suggesting its potential for detailed assessment. The study concludes that Antera 3D® provides objective and quantitative data, enhancing traditional scar assessment methods and supporting better treatment monitoring.
