TLDR Red LED light boosts cell activity and growth, aiding wound healing and blood vessel repair.
Red LED photobiomodulation (PBM) at 655 nm significantly enhances metabolic activity and proliferation in cultured human pericytes, as demonstrated by increased cell proliferation and upregulation of angiogenesis-related markers (Ang-1, CD146, PDGFR-β, VEGF-A) at 3, 6, and 24 hours post-irradiation. The study found no temperature elevation during LED exposure, indicating a safe application. These findings suggest that red LED PBM could be a promising non-invasive strategy for promoting wound healing and vascular regeneration by activating pericytes.
