TLDR Training programs for aesthetic plastic surgeons should focus on practical skills and consider their demographic and organizational needs.
The study surveyed 290 aesthetic plastic surgeons in Guangdong, China, revealing that over 60% transitioned from other specialties, and one-third had less than 3 years of experience. Minimal demographic differences were found between surgeons in government and private hospitals, though government hospital surgeons were more likely to hold graduate degrees. Most surgeons expressed a strong desire for continuing training, preferring short, topic-focused courses and operation demonstrations. The main obstacles to training were the inability to find replacements at work and training expenses. The study concluded that training programs should consider the demographic status and organizational needs of surgeons, with a focus on practical skills in rhinoplasty, eye surgery, and new technologies.
