TLDR Adult mesenchymal stem cells show promise in improving tendon, muscle, and skin healing.
This research explored the use of adult mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for regenerative medicine, focusing on tendon and muscle regeneration in vitro and skin regeneration in vivo. In the first part, equine and sheep MSCs were reprogrammed towards tenogenic and myogenic pathways using growth factors and novel transfection techniques, with molecular and immunohistochemistry analyses confirming successful differentiation. The second part studied skin regeneration in horses and sheep, where MSCs were used to treat induced wounds. The study evaluated cellular immune response, neovascularization, and epidermal keratinization, showing promising results for MSCs in enhancing skin healing compared to conventional treatments.
