TLDR Regulatory T cells help heal skin wounds by reducing inflammation and promoting tissue repair.
Regulatory T cells (Tregs) play crucial roles in cutaneous wound healing by modulating tissue homeostasis and regeneration through immunoregulatory molecules and anti-inflammatory cytokines. They help resolve inflammation, support angiogenesis, and promote tissue repair, particularly in the inflammatory and proliferative phases of wound healing. Tregs interact with both immune and non-immune cells to restore barrier integrity. The review discusses emerging therapeutic strategies targeting Tregs to improve chronic wound healing, highlighting their potential as novel immunotherapeutic targets for enhancing wound repair in chronic and diabetic wound conditions.
