TLDR Rhodamin B stain is inconsistent for keratin in skin samples.
The study evaluated the specificity of Rhodamin B stain for keratin in various skin conditions, including normal skin, benign and malignant epithelial tumors, and dermatoses. The results indicated that keratin staining was inconsistent across different lesions. Notably, the tricho-hyalin of the anagen hair follicle exhibited strong staining, whereas keratohyalin granules did not show a similar reaction.
