TLDR The robotic hair restoration device had a high success rate and was faster than manual methods for Korean patients.
The study evaluated a robotic hair restoration device on 22 Korean patients, attempting to harvest 5,213 follicular units (FUs) and successfully collecting 4,955, resulting in a 95.1% success rate and a 4.9% transection rate. The majority of FUs contained two hairs (44.1%) or three hairs (31.9%), with the transection rate increasing with the number of hairs per FU. The robotic system proved efficient, with a high yield and low transection rates, and was faster than manual extraction, taking only 6 to 9 minutes to harvest 100 FUs. Despite the small sample size and lack of comparative studies, the findings suggest the robotic system could be beneficial, although further research is needed to better understand its efficiency and compare it with other methods.
