The study investigated the role of insulin resistance and oxidative stress in diffuse hair loss among 96 patients aged 16 to 42 in Basra Governorate, comparing them to 53 controls. Results showed no significant difference in insulin resistance markers between the groups. However, there was a significant difference in oxidative stress markers (H2O2 and MDA) and antioxidant marker SOD, suggesting that oxidative stress and reduced SOD activity are critical in developing diffuse hair loss. The study concludes that further research is needed to validate these findings and explore the relationship between oxidative stress and insulin resistance in hair loss.
