This growth is regulated by various subcellular factors, including microtubule and actin dynamics, calcium gradients, and pH and reactive oxygen species interactions. These factors form feedback loops that influence cell wall assembly and modification, crucial for root hair development. The review highlights the roles of cell wall polysaccharides and proteins in root hair growth and discusses ongoing research and future directions in understanding the mechanobiology of root hair morphogenesis. Despite advancements, many spatiotemporal changes in root hair cell walls remain unexplored.
