TLDR Rosacea may be linked to gut and brain issues, not just a skin problem.
This article proposes a new perspective on rosacea, framing it as a neuroimmune disorder involving the skin-gut-brain axis rather than just a skin condition. It highlights the role of gut microbiota dysbiosis, neuroimmune signaling, and stress-related mechanisms in the disease's pathology. The authors emphasize the importance of brain-centered mechanisms, such as central sensitization and autonomic dysregulation, in the development of rosacea. They suggest that understanding rosacea through this lens could lead to more personalized and multidisciplinary treatment approaches, and they call for further research into autonomic regulation and patient stratification.
