Ensuring Safety in Cytotoxic Drug Preparation: A Systematic Review of Guidelines Addressing Education for Pharmacy Professionals

This systematic review highlights essential educational and training components for pharmacy professionals in cytotoxic drug preparation, emphasizing both theoretical and practical learning. Analyzing 20 guidelines from 3,781 references, it stresses the importance of preinitiation and periodic assessments, personal protective equipment, spill management, and aseptic techniques. A proposed training program includes 4 levels with competency assessment strategies. The review calls for developing or updating guidelines to ensure their practical applicability and effective implementation in educational programs.
