TLDR PRP derivatives are likely safe for therapeutic use without harmful effects.
The study evaluated the safety of plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) for intramuscular use in 24 healthy Beagle dogs. Researchers found no significant changes in insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) serum concentrations or muscle size, indicating that PRGF injections did not have systemic or local anabolic effects. The study concluded that PRGF application was safe, as it did not increase IGF-1 levels or cause muscle hypertrophy, even with higher doses. The findings suggested that PRGF could be a safe treatment option without ergogenic or carcinogenic risks, although further research was needed to assess its safety in humans.
